Clos Junet

La propriété

This small, three-hectare, vineyard is located on the gentle slopes of a sandy incline that lies to the southwest of the St- Emilion limestone plateau. The property was acquired in the 19th century by the great-grandfather of the present owner, Patrick Junet. Since 2017, Patrick’s dynamic and devoted winemaker son, Paul Junet, manages the estate.
The soil is predominantly ancient windblown sands, set atop a sub-soil rich in red clay. Average age of the Merlot is 40 years, and a respectable 65 years for the Cabernet Franc. One small block went unscathed by the devastating frost of February 1956 and, as a result, its vines are now over 80 years old! Wines are elegant with velvety tannins, enjoyable within their youth and will sure be impressive in the future!
